Hey there, Auckland leaders!
Ever had one of those days?
You deliver what you think is a crystal-clear, motivational masterpiece of a message to your team. You're expecting applause, vigorous nods, perhaps even a "greatest boss ever" mug.
Instead, you get... the blank stare. The slow-motion head tilt. The "I'm-smiling-but-my-brain-just-blue-screened" look.
Or, you ask for a simple update, and your high-energy salesperson gives you a 15-minute story about their weekend, while your analyst sends you a spreadsheet so detailed it could double as a legal document.
Welcome to the wonderful, weird, and often frustrating world of human communication. As a business coach right here in Auckland, I see this every single day. Brilliant leaders, innovators, and managers who are fantastic at their jobs but feel like they’re constantly getting their wires crossed with their people.
You’re not a bad leader. You just don't have the user manual.
Enter the DiSC Profile: Your Team's "User Manual"
Let's be honest, "personality profile" sounds a bit... corporate and dry, doesn't it? It conjures images of '90s team-building days with trust falls and beige-coloured binders.
Forget that.
Think of DiSC as the ultimate cheat code for communication. It’s not a test you can pass or fail. It’s a simple, brilliant tool that maps out how you and your team prefer to communicate and behave.
The DiSC model breaks our preferences down into four main styles. We’re all a blend, but we usually have one or two that are our "default" setting.
Meet the fabulous four:
D - (Dominance): This is your "Get it DONE" person. They are direct, fast-paced, and results-oriented. They want the headlines, not the whole newspaper. To them, small talk is just a barrier to the finish line.
i - (Influence): The "Let's do it TOGETHER!" person. They are optimistic, persuasive, and love collaborating. They’re the life of the office party and can charm anyone. They are motivated by recognition and enthusiasm (and probably coffee).
S - (Steadiness): Your "Let's keep it CALM" person. They are patient, reliable, and incredibly good listeners. They value stability and don't love sudden, scary changes. They are the glue that holds the team together.
C - (Conscientiousness):The "Let's get it RIGHT" person. They are analytical, precise, and value accuracy above all else. They are the ones who will find the one typo in your 50-page report. They need data, logic, and time to think.
So... Why Does This Matter for You?
Okay, so people are different. Groundbreaking, right?
But here’s the magic. The "Aha!" moment.
Your leadership communication isn't about what you say; it's about how it's heard.
When you, as a leader, understand your own profile, you discover your superpowers... and your kryptonite.
Getting a DiSC profile is like putting on a pair of translation goggles. Suddenly, you’ll understand:
It stops the "Huh?" moments. It ends the frustrating feedback loops. It turns your "static" communication into a crystal-clear signal.
It's More Than Just a Report
Look, you can find a million free "What Kind of Sandwich Are You?" quizzes online. This isn't that.
When you get a DiSC profile with me, you’re not just getting a 20-page PDF to file away and forget. You’re getting a full-on, one-to-one debrief session. We’ll sit down (over a good Auckland coffee, naturally—virtual or in-person) and unpack your unique style.
We'll pinpoint exactly where your communication is hitting a snag and build a practical, no-nonsense plan to make you a more effective, empathetic, and understood leader.
Your team wants to do a great job. You want them to do a great job. Let's stop the guessing games and give everyone the instruction manual.

From Chris Price, founder of Ark Advance,
"We had Chris take our team through the Disc profiling system, and it helped us take our team communication to another level. We could understand why previous communications had missed the mark and those that had worked. Plus, it gave us valuable insight into how we could manage the team in a more personalised way to help them achieve their goals. Thoroughly recommend using Chris to put your team through a system like this".
